Youngkin speaks at Segra Field at the Spirit of VA get out the vote

Hunt McMahon, 54, of Purcellville attentively listens to Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin speak Nov. 6 at the Spirit of Virginia Get out the Vote campaign rally held at Segra Field in Leesburg. McMahon is a general contractor who builds houses and owns his own business. His wife is a middle school teacher.

“The two biggest issues in this campaign are education and the economy. We need to get back to actually educating our kids. Enough of the nonsense. Let’s get back to reading, writing and arithmetic. Let’s get the teachers back to teaching instead of being in continual diversity, equity and inclusion trainings. Also restoring discipline to the classroom. So many students are unhinged and there’s no consequences,” he said.

In terms of the economy, McMahon said, “Inflation is a big problem. As a small business owner it’s getting harder and harder to make a dollar and as soon as I do, the government is there to take it. There’s a lot of fees associated with running a business that have increased. Government grows and then they look to business owners as an ATM machine to support big government. That’s got to change too.”
