Community Voting Open for “Paint the Plow” Art Contest

The winning school will be announced on Monday, June 8.

The public is invited to vote for their favorite design in this year’s “Paint the Plow” art project.

Hosted by the Leesburg Commission on Public Art and Friends of Leesburg Public Arts, this year’s project features the theme, “Leesburg is Out of This World.”

Artwork created by students from Leesburg Elementary School, Catoctin Elementary School, Smarts Mill Middle School, and Tuscarora High School was selected for this year’s display.

Voting is open now through midnight on Saturday, June 6. The school receiving the most votes will win $500 for its school program. The second-place winner will receive $250, and the third-place winner will receive $100.

Winners will be announced on Monday, June 8. Visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TXPQ9ZP to cast your vote.

In addition to winning a cash prize, each plow will be featured in the annual Leesburg Kiwanis Halloween Parade. The plows will also appear in the Town’s Christmas and Holiday Parade and may be seen plowing Town streets during snow events.

While the Paint the Plow event has traditionally been held in the fall, this marks the first year it is being hosted in the spring to better accommodate the schedules of Town staff and participating schools.
