Middleburg lifts mandatory water conservation measures
The Middleburg Town Council has lifted mandatory water conservation measures, effective Sept. 27. Users of the Town water system may now use water outside of a residential or commercial structure at any time.
Prior conservation measures partially or completely prohibited the use of Town water outside a structure. The Town Council removed all mandatory water conservation measures based on recent precipitation, forecasts of ongoing rain, production capabilities of the Town wells, and positive drought indicators issued by state and federal agencies. The Town Council also took into account the expert advice of the Town’s water operator and Source Water Protection Team.
The Town of Middleburg continues to urge residents to implement voluntary water conservations measures, to include: limit use of irrigation systems; limit outdoor watering, including washing of cars; reduce use of water while brushing teeth or showering; and alerting the Town if you find a water leak.
Additionally, the Town recently commissioned a new 64,000-gallon storage tank at the Well 4 Treatment Plant. This tank will provide additional capacity, positively impact the water treatment process, and reduce instances of discoloration in the Town’s water supply that comes from naturally occurring elements.
