Virginia Gold Cup, started in 1922, has become one of the Washington, D.C. region’s largest outdoor event. It’s rolling hills and magnificent scenery in the heart of Virginia horse country, makes this the perfect setting for gathering, socializing and networking over lavish tailgates and elaborate tented parties. And there are also horses running in 8 races with parimutuel wagering—one of Virginia’s sanctioned parimutuel race events.

Back this year are the Jack Russell Terrier races at 11 a.m where the little dogs race and jump over obstacles to get to a lure. Their antics delight the crowds, especially children.
