Rashid Announces Candidacy for Little River District for LCSB

Dr. Sumera Rashid announced her candidacy for the Loudoun County School Board for Little River District in Northern Virginia. Dr. Rashid, a dentist, an educator, and a mother of two children in the Loudoun County Public School system, is passionate about bringing transparency, inclusivity, and academic excellence to the district’s schools.

“I’ve spent my entire career in education, and I’ve seen firsthand the transformative power of a quality education has on students,” Dr. Rashid said. “As a parent, I understand the importance of ensuring that our schools are providing the best possible education for our children.”

Dr. Rashid believes that the School Board plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the district’s schools and its students. She is committed to working with parents, teachers, and community leaders to promote transparency and ensure that the district’s schools are providing a high-quality education for every student.

“Transparency, inclusivity, and academic excellence must be at the forefront of everything we do as a school board,” Dr. Rashid said. “Our children deserve the best possible education, and I’m committed to working tirelessly to make that a reality.”

Dr. Rashid is the child of immigrants who understands the meaning of carrying the hopes and dreams of cultural lineage. As a bilingual resident of the Little River district, she believes that every student should have the best quality in education regardless of his or her background.

Dr. Rashid is a graduate of Rutgers University, formerly known as University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where she obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. She also obtained her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University in a combined 7-year B.S./D.M.D. program.

While teaching at Northern Virginia Community College and serving as the Director of a dental program, Dr. Rashid has a strong background in education. She is passionate about using her expertise to make a real difference in the lives of the district’s students. Dr. Rashid has served as the Dental Director of several federally qualified health centers, such as Evergreen Health Center and Healthworks for Northern Virginia. She has been a dentist for 20 years.

“I’m running for School Board because I believe that our schools can be a beacon of hope for our children and our communities,” Dr. Rashid said. “I’m eager to hit the campaign trail and engage with voters to make our vision a reality.”
