Purcellville police report March 18

03/11/22          1:58 p.m.         1000 E. Main Street                            Passing Counterfeit Bills

On 3/10/22, a man conducted three transactions at the same cash register, each time passing a counterfeit $100 bill. During the first two transactions, he made small purchases and received change. During the last transaction, he simply asked for change for a $100.00 bill.  The transactions were captured on video. The Secret Service was contacted and is assisting the PPD with the investigation.

03/11/22          2:00 p.m.          400 Block of Sage Court                                 Fraud

The complainant’s HR department contacted her and reported that someone had filed an unemployment claim using her information.  She contacted the Virginia Employment Commission and filed an on-line report and also contacted her financial institution and the credit bureaus. 03/12/22          7:10 p.m.         165 Purcellville Gateway                                Verbal Threats

The complainant reported that while making a child exchange with his ex-wife, her current husband made verbal threats to cause bodily harm. As a result, his teenage son would not get into his mother’s car.  The complainant obtained a warrant and Emergency Protective Order, both of which were served on the suspect on 3/13/14.

03/15/22          11:40 p.m.       120 E. Cornwell                                              Narcotics-Found

Following the termination of employment of an employee, another employee, who was gathering personal items of the terminated employee, discovered suspected narcotics. The item was discovered in box, in a common area accessible to all other employees.  It is unknown who put the suspected drugs in the box.  The item was tested and discovered to be MDMA/Ecstasy.  No other drugs were located. The investigation is on-going.

3/16/22            8:01 a.m.         800 Block of E. Main Street                            Disorderly Conduct                                                               

An employee became upset at work for unknown reasons, was verbally toxic to several fellow employees, and left the premises by vehicle.  His boss called and asked him to return. The subject came back, and denied the earlier incident.  Management collected his keys and assisted him in gathering his personal property. The subject left without incident.

The complainant reported that he received a letter from the Virginia Employment Commission in regards to unemployment benefits that he had been receiving.  This came as a surprise, as he is employed and has never filed for unemployment benefits.  He contacted the Virginia Employment Commission and filed an on-line report.  For information on how to protect your personal information please see:  https://www.usa.gov/identity-theft

3/17/22            9:46 p.m.         340 Maple Avenue                                          Violation of a Protective Order

A parent reported that her daughter, who is the subject of a protective order, was threatened by the respondent on the protective order.  The treats took place on school property.  The School SRO, who investigated the initial complaint, was notified of the most recent development in the case.

3/17/22            10:04 p.m.       900 Block of W. Main Street                           Drunk in Public                                                                      

An intoxicated subject left the West End Wine and staggered off in the direction of Purcellville. Officers encountered him sitting on the corner of 33^rd and Main, crying into his phone, allegedly talking to his mother.

He reeked of alcoholic beverage and had slurred speech.  He vacillated between sadness, joy and profane behavior.  He was arrested and while in route to the jail confessed to bank robbery and murder. Once he arrived at the Adult Detention Center, he began to dry heave in his cell and told the jail nurse that he was having chest pains. 

Off to the ER he went, where it was discovered that his heart was fine, but his liver was distressed, given his BAC 0f .201.   After receiving medical clearance, it was back to the jail, where he was ordered held until sober.
