Purcellville police report Jan. 14
01/07/22 10:22 a.m. 700 Block of W. Main Street Adult in Need of Services
Officers responded with rescue units to a location to check on the well-being of an elderly couple. It was determined that a man removed his wife, who is suffering from a variety of ailments, including Alzheimer’s, from a nursing home in Florida, to relocate to Virginia, to be closer to family.
A third party, who is related, called, concerned for the mental well-being of both parties. The man was not deemed to be in need of services. Florida officials were contacted, as a look-out was in place for the couple. The wife was transported to INOVA hospital for a physical evaluation. Adult Protective Services was notified.
01/07/22 5:32 p.m. 609 E. Main Street Police Information
The complainant reported he worked out at Any Time Fitness between 3:30 and 4 a.m., and left his gym bag at the gym. He returned at 5:20 p.m. but did not find the bag.
The gym is available 24 hours a day, but only staffed during limited hours. No staff was present during both occasions when the complainant was at the gym. On Jan. 8, 2022, the complainant spoke to a gym employee, saw the unattended bag, and locked it in the office for safekeeping. Nothing was missing from the bag.
01/08/22 5:50 p.m. 300 Block of Upper Heyford Place Suspicious Incident
A concerned parent saw a text message that her middle school aged son received from a classmate, in which the sender indicated that he was going to “#%&* kids up at school” and asked the recipient if he wanted to join. Wisely, the recipient declined. The parent called the school principal, who in turn called police.
Police went to the residence of the sender and while the child was home with a grandparent, the parents were out. A message was left, and later the parents and child responded to the Police Station. During the interview, the parents described their son as a good kid, who has become a little rebellious as he entered puberty. They reported that he had no access to weapons. The child reported that he had no intention to hurt anyone, and that this was a prank, inspired by a YouTube video. The findings were reported to the principal, the SRO and juvenile intake for review and action.
01/10/22 4:33 a.m. 500 Block of Wordsworth Circle Disorderly Subject
Two men had been out drinking and smoking marijuana and were in route to West Virginia, when they stopped at the home of the driver, where he lived with his parents. Both men fell asleep in the car and when they awoke, realized that is was too late to drive to the casino in Charles Town. They went inside but woke up the owner of the house, who was not pleased by the intrusion. An argument ensued as to the presence of his son’s friend. Upon police arrival, the “guest” attempted to get an Uber, but none were available in Purcellville at that early hour. To avoid further issue, the officer transported the subject to his residence in Leesburg.
01/10/22 1:23 p.m. 211 E. Main Street Police Information
At 9 a.m. the complainant found a dead rooster carcass on her door step. The carcass still had feathers and was partially intact. The rooster was similar in appearance to the free range birds that roam in the 700 Block of E Main Street.
01/10/22 5:54 p.m. On –Line Extortion
Two young adults reported receiving messages from a woman, named “Emilia Gonzales” that they follow on Instagram, stating that she has explicit photos of them that she is going to share with all of their friends and co-workers unless they send her money. They reported that they do not personally know the woman, but just followed her on Instagram.
They did not send any money as they know that there are no explicit photos of them. The officer advised them to report the account to Instagram and only follow verified accounts or people that they know.

01/11/22 5:16 p.m. 700 E. Main Street Police Information
A teen, approximately 15 years old, entered the store and proceeded to the beer cooler. He opened the door and appeared to secret something in his backpack. When confronted by the store employee, he ran.
The video captured the teen waving to the camera as he entered the store. The officer was unable to ascertain from the video if he put anything in his bag before running from the store.
01/13/22 3:46 p.m. 21st and Ashleigh Road Hit and Run
A citizen reported that the stop sign at 21st and Ashleigh had been knocked down. The responding officer noted tire marks in the grass leading to the damaged stop sign. A temporary stop sign was erected. If anyone witnessed a car striking the sign, they are asked to call Officer Burkett at 540-338-7422 x 125.
01/13/22 7:33 p.m. 1000 E. Main Street Larceny
A loss prevention officer reported that a subject on multiple occasions has stolen beer from the store. Some of the events were captured on video. The investigation is on-going.
