Purcellville Police incidents report for 5/30–6/4/2021

05/30/21 8:45 a.m. S. 20th and A. Street DUI

An officer on patrol stopped a vehicle traveling 52 mph in a 25 mph zone. Upon approach to the vehicle, he noted an odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver. The driver failed a battery of standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested. Arrested was: Joshua A Rhodes, 23, of Purcellville, VA

05/30/21 1:54 p.m. 300 block of S 26th Street –Domestic Argument

Officers responded for a domestic argument involving a couple that are in the process of ending their marriage but are still living under the same roof. The dispute, over dirty dishes and Amazon packages, was only verbal. Officers discussed options with the couple, and ultimately one gathered belongings and left for the evening.

05/30/21 7:24 p.m. 400 block of Leeds Ridge Court –Domestic Dispute

The complainant reported that his two adult children had an argument concerning the law. The dispute may or may not have become physical at one point, but neither party wanted to implicate the other. One of the parties gathered belongings and left the scene to return to a primary residence. The complainant reported that the party that remained was under a lot of stress at work. Officers provided information regarding mental health services.

06/01/21 7:44 p.m. 100 Block of Maple Avenue –Police Information

A homeowner, who is involved in an ongoing dispute with neighbors, reported that while she was walking her dog her neighbor asked her a question. As the neighbors had asked the complainant not to speak to them, she expects the same courtesy. As this was not in any way criminal in nature, no police action was required.

06/01/21 4:15 p.m. Dominion Terrace Mental Health Issue- Domestic Assault

A mother and her teen daughter, who suffers with severe mental health issues, had an altercation, during which a glass dish was broken. As the teen was trying to leave, she cut her arm on the broken glass. Police responded and were able to calm the situation. The teen was transported to the Hospital, where she was treated for her injury and provided with mental health services.

06/03/21 3:40 p.m. 200 Block of Heaton Court – Unattended Death

Officers responded to a residence for an assist rescue call and arrived to find that medics had ended CPR as the subject, a 68-year-old male, could not be revived. The investigation revealed that the decedent was under a doctor’s care for a serious, life threatening medical condition. The doctor was contacted and agreed to complete the death certificate. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s office was informed of this case and concurred that the case was medical in nature and not suspicious.

06/03/21 7:09 p.m. 300 Block of West Main Street –Assist Rescue

Officers responded to a home for a medical call in which an elderly subject, who suffers from memory loss, fell from a couch. Officers interviewed her husband, who has some degree of impairment, and their sons, who, along with hospice nurses, provide care. By all appearances, this was an accident. The investigating officer spoke with both sons, who are exploring assisted living options for their parents.

911 Calls-4, Alarm-2 Assist, Fire/Rescue/Other Agency-4, Bike Patrol-4, Citizen Assist-3, Disorderly Conduct-1, Follow-up investigation-1 Other Police Complaint-2, Reckless Driver Lookout-1, Suspicious Person/Vehicle/Event-6.

In addition, officers also conducted the following: Building Check-50, Foot Patrol-21.
