Purcellville Police Incidents – 5/7/21

04/30/21

04/30/21  – 12:31 a.m. – 610 W. Main Street – Larceny The lone store employee, responding to nature calling, was in the back of the store when a lone male subject entered. The employee emerged and observed what he believed was the subject filling his pockets with merchandise. He asked if the subject needed assistance and received “Cigarettes” as a response. The employee asked about possible items in the subjects pockets, resulting in the man fleeing east bound on Main Street. The investigation is ongoing.            

05/01/21 – 6:43 pm. – Town of Purcellville – Emotional Crisis  Officers responded for a teen having an emotional crisis. Officers learned that the teen’s parents were in the midst of a contentious divorce and that her mother had been making disparaging comments about her father. The teen is conflicted and feels trapped in the middle. Officers spoke individually to the mother and the teen and provided information regarding mental health and social service options.   

05/04/21 – 10:42 p.m. – Maple Avenue at Main Street – Revoked Driver’s License An officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and discovered the driver’s license had been revoked due to prior DUI convictions. His vehicle was impounded, and the driver was transported to the adult detention center.  Arrested was: George Virts, 53, of Leesburg, VA  

05/05/21 – 12:45 a.m. – Main Street/Maple Avenue – Suspicious Incident  The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the County for a report from a woman that her adult son had been beaten during an attack while out walking, somewhere in the Town of Purcellville. The initial investigation revealed that the suspect had minor injuries consistent with being involved in a fist fight. The victim was reluctant to cooperate with Deputies but finally reported that this incident occurred somewhere on Main Street. The victim told Deputies that he did not wish to pursue the investigation. Purcellville Police checked the area but found no evidence of a crime scene. 

 05/06/21 – 3:47 a.m. – 400 Block of Autumn Chase Court – Domestic Assault Officers responded for a domestic argument that occurred one hour prior to police arrival. They learned that a married couple had a domestic dispute in which both parties had been drinking and one suffered cuts to the face. While neither party wished prosecution, a primary aggressor was identified and arrested.  This party will remain in the Adult Detention Center until sober. Additionally, an emergency protective order was issued and served on both parties.    

05/06/21 – 8:17 a.m. – 100 block of N. 16th Street – Vandalism  The complainant parked her vehicle on 05/05/21 at 5:45 p.m.  She returned at 8:00 a.m. on 05/06/21 and discovered that someone had egged her vehicle.  The lot was checked, but no other vehicles had been targeted.  The complainant did not believe that she was being specifically targeted.
