Purcellville Police Incident report – Sept. 10

09/03/21          6:25 p.m.         1000 E. Main Street                                       Domestic Dispute

The reporting party was concerned because after she was caught sending suggestive texts to another man, her boyfriend was distraught and allegedly said that he was going to “choke himself out” and walked away.

A Loudoun Deputy Sheriff located the male, who denied suicidal thoughts, but was upset as he came to the realization that he liked the complainant in a different way than she liked him.

He told police that he made the statement attributed to him, because he wanted to see if the woman genuinely cared for him. The male complained about having no money and being hungry, so a Purcellville officer purchased food for him and watched as he walked towards his mother’s home in Hamilton. No additional law enforcement intervention was required.

A complainant, over 18 but under the age of 21, called police to report that he gave a subject $35.00 to buy what he described as a “hypothetical illegal item”, later identified as vape cigarette.

After not receiving the vape pen from the straw purchaser, he called and arranged for a meeting, but the subject failed to show up as requested. He later spoke to the man, who reported that he was “jumped” and the money was taken from him.

The complainant stated that he called the police because he wants his money back and he is certain that the subject, who does not have a job, spent the money on something else.

The officer explained that since he willingly gave the money to the subject, the only crime committed was by the complainant himself, for soliciting a subject to make an illegal purchase on his behalf.

Although admittedly somewhat befuddled by the entire situation, it slowly dawned on the subject that it may have been a mistake calling the police. With that, police gave him a verbal warning, suggested several healthy alternatives to vaping and sent him on his way.
