Purcellville Feb. 12 police report

02/05/21          10:29 a.m.       37000 Block of Richardson Lane                    Larceny

Sometime between January 21, 2021 and Feb. 3, an unknown subject or subjects stole the rear bumper, with attached license plate from a company work truck.  The truck was backed into its parking spot, concealing the view of the rear bumper from the parking lot.  The front tag was removed by police and the tag number was entered as stolen.

02/05/21          8:50 p.m.         Town of Purcellville                                        Check on Welfare

Officers responded at the request of Child Protective Services to a home in town to check on the welfare of children living at the residence. The adults living at the dwelling each have children from previous relationships, so calls were made to multiple parents before the police visit.  Nothing appeared to be amiss, so the information was reported to CPS and no other police action was required at this time.  

02/0721           5:34 p.m.         100 Block of N. 16th Street                               Domestic Dispute

Officers responded for a report that a juvenile was assaulted by his stepfather.  Officers investigated but could not find neither physical nor testimonial evidence that an assault had taken place.  They shared the results of their investigation with the juvenile’s mother, who arrived home from work while police were present.  Officers also provided her with information regarding social service resources. 

02/08/21          1:50 p.m.         100 Block of N. 21st Street                              Destruction of Property

An officer responded for a report of a damaged front door.  Upon arrival, the officer determined that the damage to the front door actually stemmed from a rotten sub-floor as opposed to rotten human behavior.  The property manager was informed and will be fixing the problem.

02/11/21          9:41 p.m.         100 Block of N. 16th Street                               Check on Welfare

Due to a forecast of impending bad weather, a mother agreed to a temporary alteration of a child custody agreement and allowed her son to stay with his father in Purcellville. As the storm bypassed Loudoun County, she wanted to retrieve her son, but was unable to make phone contact with the father.  Police responded and found both father and son in fine shape.  The father called the mother and no further police intervention was required. 

02/11/21          11:04 p.m.       200 Block of E. Main Street                            Hit and Run

A deputy in Purcellville heard a loud crash and soon thereafter observed a vehicle pull into the parking lot.  He made contact with the intoxicated driver and arrested him for DUI. Purcellville officers responding to assist, located three mailboxes on Main Street that had been hit by the intoxicated driver.  Contact was made with two of the homeowners, both of whom declined prosecution.  A note was left for the third homeowner, as no one answered the door.
