Prescription drug take back day – Oct. 29
On Saturday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Purcellville Police Department, in partnership with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Prevention Alliance of Loudoun, will host the biannual Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
Bring your expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs and medications for safe disposal to the PPD Administrative Offices at 125 Hirst Road, Purcellville, VA 20132. (Sites cannot accept liquids, needles, or sharps, only pills, or patches.) The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. PAL will also provide free medication lock boxes and drug deactivation bags to the community during the event.
This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the United States are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs.
