Fire Marshal’s and Law Enforcement Investigating Fatal Fire Incident in Leesburg

Just after 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, the Loudoun County Emergency Communications Center (LCFR-ECC) received reports that a vehicle was on fire in the 200 block of West Market Street in Leesburg. Initial reports stated the car was fully engulfed in flames and was parked directly next
to a single-family home.

Loudoun County Fire and Rescue (LCFR) crews from Leesburg, Hamilton, Lansdowne, Purcellville, and Lucketts, along with several command officers responded. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found a vehicle on fire, parked in the driveway of the home with fire spreading to the second floor. Neighbors reported the house was occupied by two residents who may still be inside.

Firefighters made an initial attack on the vehicle fire as additional crews quickly made their way to the second floor to extinguish the fire and search for possible victims.

Upon extinguishing the vehicle fire, crews located an adult male, deceased, inside the vehicle. After thoroughly searching the residence, no additional occupants were located inside. Officers from the Leesburg Police Department (LPD) conducted additional searches in the area and subsequently located the second individual unharmed.

The Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office (LCFR-FMO) is conducting an origin and cause investigation into the fire as the LPD conducts the death investigation. The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of the decedent’s family.
