Area man indicted in connection with October 2024 fatal hit-and-run crash

A Loudoun County Grand Jury has indicted a Leesburg man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on October 23, 2024, in the Town of Leesburg.
Angad S. Sivia, age 33, of Leesburg, Virginia, was indicted following an extensive investigation by the Leesburg Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team, who worked tirelessly to identify the driver responsible for the crash that tragically claimed the life of a Lovettsville resident.
The incident involved a semi-truck with an attached trailer that ran a red light and struck a passenger vehicle on the afternoon of October 23, 2024, in the area of Fort Evans Road NE at the Leesburg Bypass. The driver of the tractor-trailer failed to stop and fled the scene. The tractor-trailer was located a short time later, abandoned, in the 1000 block of Edwards Ferry Road NE.
The three occupants of the Chrysler 300 were transported to an area hospital for treatment. On October 26, 2024, 93-year-old Monica Lee of Lovettsville, VA, a passenger in the Chrysler, succumbed to her injuries and died. The other two occupants of the Chrysler (the driver and a passenger) were later released from the hospital.
Through diligent investigative work, the Leesburg Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team was able to identify Angad S. Sivia as the driver of the tractor-trailer. On April 15, 2025, a Loudoun County Grand Jury returned an indictment against Sivia.
He was charged under § 46.2-894 for failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving injury or death. Sivia was taken into custody at the Loudoun County Courthouse on April 16, 2025, and later released on an unsecured bond of $1,000.
Leesburg Police Thea Pirnat stated, “The individual responsible displayed an utter disregard for the Lee family, fleeing the scene without a second thought. This reckless behavior not only cost the life of Monica Lee but also showed a complete lack of compassion. We are committed to the family, to ensure that justice will be served, and to hold the person responsible accountable for his actions.”
