The Arc of Loudoun Hosts Annual Disability Resource Fair on May 5

Residents across Loudoun County will have a unique opportunity this spring to connect with dozens of organizations dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities. On Tuesday, May 5, The Arc of Loudoun will host its 5th Annual Disability Resource Fair at the Claude Moore Recreation & Community Center in Sterling.

The free, public event—running from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.—is the only disability resource fair of its kind in Loudoun County and continues to grow each year. Last year, more than 400 people attended, and in 2026 organizers anticipate up to 75 vendors and resource organizations on site, all dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities and their families.

The fair offers an invaluable opportunity for community members to learn about local services, connect with advocates, and access critical support, all in one place and at no cost. For many families navigating a disability diagnosis, finding reliable information can be overwhelming, and events like this help simplify that process by bringing resources together in a single, accessible setting.

“When a person is diagnosed with a disability, it is often difficult to know where to turn to find information, resources, and support,” said Eileen Shaffer, Director of the Ally Advocacy Center at The Arc of Loudoun. “The Arc of Loudoun works diligently to meet the unmet needs of the community by providing free information on disability rights, guidance, support, events, and workshops for individuals with disabilities, their families, and the professionals who work with them.”

At the center of this effort is the organization’s Ally Advocacy Center, which ensures individuals with disabilities and their families are aware of all benefits and entitlements available to them.

Services include support ranging from early intervention and individualized education program navigation to transition planning from public schools and beyond.

For those who attend, the experience often leads to meaningful connections and new opportunities. “I thought I was aware of many of the local resources available for my daughter, but I left the fair with so many new contacts,” shared a 2025 attendee. “I’m grateful to have more ideas and supports for our family going forward.”

Organizations interested in supporting the event can connect with The Arc of Loudoun about sponsorship packages, which include benefits such as premier exhibitor table placement, recognition on event signage, and recognition in event announcements. This year’s sponsors include Brain Balance of Northern Virginia, Elites Care, LLC, and We Rock the Spectrum – Loudoun, with additional thanks to Simply Be Coffee for providing coffee and pastries for attendees.

The Arc of Loudoun is committed to hosting inclusive and accessible events. Anyone who requires reasonable accommodation or language assistance to participate is encouraged to contact the organization in advance.

The event will take place Tuesday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Claude Moore Recreation & Community Center, located at 46105 Loudoun Park Lane in Sterling. Admission is free and open to the public. More information is available at thearcofloudoun.org/disability-resource-fair/, and questions can be directed to ally@thearcofloudoun.org.

As the only event of its kind in the county, the Disability Resource Fair continues to serve as a vital connection point for individuals, families, and professionals—bringing together the knowledge, services, and community support that help Loudoun residents thrive.
