Purcellville Town Council member Ted Greenly to step down

Purcellville Council Member Ted Greenly is stepping down from the Town Council “in the coming weeks.”  This was just announced via his Facebook page, and in an email this morning to the Town of Purcellville, Mayor and Town Council.

Greenly was first appointed to fill a vacant seat on the Town Council in November, 2107. He was elected in May, 2018 to the Purcellville Town Council, and his term will be up in the Town’s next election, which will take place in November, 2022.

Greenly’s Facebook post on May 13 stated: “Some pretty big life changes in the works for my family. I just sent this email to Council and Town Managers.”

“Mayor, Council and Staff,

“In what is possibly the best worst kept secret in town, I am going to retire at the end of the month after 40 years of Army and Federal Service time. Originally, we had planned to remain in town until our son graduates from high school but now have stumbled upon what we consider the perfect retirement home and property, and we just found out our offer has been formally accepted.

“While the details of selling and purchasing a new home were being worked out, I kept a pretty low-keyed approach, but now things have started to fall into place pretty quickly, so I will be resigning my seat on Council in the coming weeks as our time here begins to draw to a close. We plan on being in the area until about late June, but for planning/transition purposes and turn over sooner than later might be more efficient.”

Typically, the Mayor and Town Council will be accepting applications to fill the vacant seat, and the dates and interview times for this process will be forthcoming.
