01/14/21          7:24 p.m.         200 Block of Upper Heyford Place

Suspicious Incident           An online gamer, who lives in Alabama (hence forth known as gamer #1) called the police, because a fellow online gamer, who lives in Purcellville (hence forth known as gamer #2) was receiving threats from an unknown party, likely a fellow on-line gamer (hence forth known as gamer #3).  The threats were received via text message, purportedly from a phone number that used to belong to gamer #3’s former “girlfriend” (henceforth known as girlfriend #1) a person he had never actually spoken to, but only communicated via text. She allegedly no longer has the phone number in question. While none of the parties have ever met in person, and no one knew anyone’s actual address, gamer #2, in a pique of teen bravado, provided his home address to gamer #3, to facilitate an actual real human interaction (henceforth known as a fight).

The responding officer reviewed the “threats” and found nothing of a criminal nature. The investigating officer spoke to gamer #2’s father and suggested that gamer #2 block the phone number, and call back if he received additional messages.  He also advised gamer #2, who is 8 months shy of reaching legal majority, to stop giving out personal information to strangers.
