The Leesburg Police Department would like to congratulate Sergeant Steven Pebler on his retirement from the Department after providing more than 29 years of public service to the Town.

Upon serving four years in the Air Force, Sergeant Pebler began his career in law enforcement in 1984 as a Police Officer with the Sherwood, Alabama Police Department.  Sergeant Pebler was then hired by the Leesburg Police Department on September 3, 1991.

While a member of the Leesburg Police Department, Sergeant Pebler has served in numerous specialized positions and roles in which he demonstrated outstanding commitment and dedication to serving the Leesburg community.  Some of those roles have included patrol supervisor, negotiations team leader, school resource officer supervisor, traffic management unit supervisor, UAS team member, crash reconstruction team member, and Loudoun County critical incident stress management team member.  Sergeant Pebler is most proud of the successful operations that he worked during the 17 years that he spent on the Department’s Negotiation Team.

Throughout his career, Sergeant Pebler received a variety of awards.  On one occasion, Sergeant Pebler successfully negotiated the surrender of an armed suicidal subject.  For his actions Sergeant Pebler was awarded a Leesburg Police Department Commanders Award.  Additionally, over the years, the Leesburg Police Department has received numerous letters of thanks from the public, from Town employees, and from our law enforcement partners for the positive interactions that they each have had with Sergeant Pebler.

In his free time, Sergeant Pebler enjoys volunteering with his church and flying his fleet of drones.  In retirement, Sergeant Pebler looks forward to spending time with his wife, his children, and his grandchildren.

Steve, on behalf of Chief Brown and your LPD Family, thank you for all that you have done over the past two and a half decades to better our community!
