Loudoun’s primary election results are finalized

Three Loudoun residents have emerged victorious in the Virginia Primary Elections between the U.S. House and Senate.
Hung Cao won the overwhelming majority of votes, numbering 166,875 as 61.78% of Virginia’s participating voters, for the U.S. Senate during the Republican Primary. He secured his victory against candidates Eddie Garcia, Scott Parkinson, Chuck Smith, and Jonathan Walker Emord—his closest competitor being Parkinson with 10.96% of the vote. Cao will advance to run against incumbent Democratic candidate Tim Kaine on Nov. 5.
Loudoun’s district, CD10, elected Suhas Subramanyam in the Democratic Primary for the U.S. House with 30.36% of the vote. While the race was closer than Cao’s due in part to the large pool of contenders, Subramanyam nonetheless secured 13,063 ballots against his next-closest competitor, Dan Helmer, who concluded with 11,496—turning out to be a smaller 26.72% of the vote.
“I got into politics to tackle really tough problems head on and to be there for people when they need us,” Subramanyam says following his success. “This campaign is not about me; it’s about taking matters into our own hands with the tools at our disposal to make the world fit us and our needs.”
The Republican Primary for the U.S. House was a more decisive 64.32% in favor of Mike Clancy, who ran against three opponents and won 17,167 ballots for his candidacy. Aliscia Andrews was his closest contender and followed behind with 21.48%—a finish of 5,734 votes.
“But our campaign is not over. In fact, the real fight is just beginning,” Clancy reminds. From the start of his campaign, he said, “I have witnessed radical progressive Democrats steer our nation in the wrong direction, but now it’s time to fight back.”
Virginia can look forward to the next developments taking place early this upcoming November in the Senate race between Hung Cao (R) and Tim Kaine (D) and the House race between Suhas Subramanyam (D) and Mike Clancy (R).
