VSP Respond to Emergency Aircraft Landing in Loudoun County

At 12:51 p.m. Friday (Jan. 19, 2024), Virginia State Police was notified of a private aircraft making an emergency landing in Loudoun County. A single-engine Cessna 208 Caravan made an emergency landing in the westbound lanes of Route 606/Loudoun County Parkway near Arcola Mills Drive. The pilot was able to safely land the plane in the roadway without striking any vehicles. The only damage that occurred was to the guardrail off the right side of the Parkway. 

The pilot, Ahmed Awais, 27, of Florida, was not injured. Nor was the co-pilot or any of the five passengers onboard the aircraft. Of the passengers, four were adults and one was a 15-year-old male. 

Both the FAA and NTSB have been notified. The investigation continues.
