Purcellville police reports for the week ending November 27, 2020
11/21/20 5:02 p.m. 151 W. Main Street Hit and Run
The complainant reported that a dark colored SUV traveling west on Main Street struck the driver’s side mirror of her parked, unoccupied vehicle and fled without stopping to provide information. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Officer David Camp at 540-338-7422 x 127.
11/22/20 12:50 a.m. Town of Purcellville Mental Health Crisis
An officer responded for a report of a subject in the midst of a mental health crisis armed with a knife. Upon arrival, the officer discovered that two family members disarmed that subject, who had been released earlier in the day from an inpatient mental health facility. The subject was deemed to be a danger to self and others and was transported to INOVA Loudon Hospital for medical clearance and evaluation. It took a significant amount of time to locate a bed at a mental health facility but at 8:24 p.m., the patient was transported to a facility in Falls Church, VA.
11/22/20 7:06 a.m. 140 Purcellville Gateway Indecent Exposure
The complainant reported that at approximately 7:06 a.m. a customer in the Starbucks drive thru exposed himself while accepting his order. The complainant reported that this is the second time the same subject exposed himself, the first being on or about November 7, 2020. The investigation is on-going.
11/23/20 10:15 a.m. 600 Block of Elliott Drive Mischievous Behavior
A caller reported that sometime between 6:00 p.m. on November 22nd and 8:00 a.m. on November 23rd, an unknown person or persons TP’d trees on the property. Given the scarcity of toilet tissue, or loo paper as it is known in the UK, an act that is normally considered a juvenile rite of passage, served as a shock to the conscious of members of this normally placid neighborhood. There are no suspects at this time.
11/23/20 3:42 p.m. Town of Purcellville Mental Health Crisis
A teen who is a known consumer of mental health services, had a suicidal crisis and as a result was transported to the INOVA Leesburg for a mental health evaluation. While at the hospital, the teen became agitated and attempted to leave. During a brief struggle to prevent this, the teen bit a Purcellville Police Officer. An emergency Mental Detention Order was issued at 8:30 p.m. but no bed space was available until 1:30 a.m. at a facility in Staunton Virginia. A Purcellville Officer, assisted by a Loudoun County Deputy Sheriff transported the patient, who was turned over to medical staff at 4:00 a.m.
11/24/20 10:18 p.m. 609 E. Main Street Unlocked Door
An officer conducting a building check at the shopping center of 609 E. Main Street discovered that the rear door of a business was unsecured. Two officers check the business and found no sign that anything was amiss. A note was left for the business owner and the door was secured.
