Public Information Meeting on Proposed County Government Facility April 16
Loudoun County encourages residents of the Tuscarora Crossing and Kincaid Forest communities to attend an upcoming public information meeting and open house to learn more about a proposed county facility that would be located at the intersection of Natchez Drive and Crosstrail Boulevard. The meeting is open to the public.
The open house will be held Thursday, April 16, 6 – 7:30 p.m. in the Dulles Room on the first floor of the Loudoun County Government Center, 1 Harrison St. SE in Leesburg.
Attendees will have the opportunity to review a brief presentation about the project and ask questions at 6 p.m. The presentation will be followed by an open house during which members of the public may review plans and other project information.
Project Overview
The proposed 130,000-square-foot facility would consolidate several existing facilities of the Loudoun County Department of General Services into one location. In addition to general office space, the facility would include warehouse space for county facilities, public works, records storage and other operations that serve the public. Approximately 250 county employees would work out of this location.
The Planning Commission held a public hearing on the proposed facility March 24 and is scheduled to hold a work session on the proposed facility May 14.

The county is seeking approval from the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors to construct the facility. The public process includes Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors public hearings, during which members of the public are encouraged to speak.
Dates of Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission meetings are posted on the county’s website at loudoun.gov/calendar. Information on how to sign up to speak at Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission meetings can be found at loudoun.gov/SignuptoSpeak.
Informed by comments from residents and members of the Planning Commission, the Department of General Services is working to update the proposed design to help minimize visual and noise impacts through extensive buffering between the building, nearby roads and residential areas.
In addition, approximately over 3 acres will be open space to include 1.65 acres that will be set aside as a tree conservation area. The site will have a maximum lighting height of 14 feet that complies with “Dark Sky” standards to minimize light pollution.
The facility is planned as a LEED Silver building, which means it will include features designed to reduce energy use and environmental impact.
In addition to the proposed General Services facility, Loudoun County is about to begin construction on another project in the same general area: the first phase of the Government Support Center office complex near the intersection of Kincaid Boulevard and Adoption Drive.
More information about both projects—including links to subscribe to email project updates and an online comment form—is available on the county’s website at loudoun.gov/OfficeProjects. Residents who are interested in following the progress of one or both of these county government projects are encouraged to subscribe to the project updates.
