LCOS seeking feedback to revise grading and assessment

Loudoun County Public Schools is gathering feedback and information to help revise Policy 5030, Grading and Assessment. The school division has just concluded a round of parent and educator focus groups held to review the current policy and provide recommendations on proposed solutions and potential policy revisions. Participants were randomly selected from those who indicated their interest in being a part of the process.

The public and broader LCPS community now have the opportunity to provide written feedback via a Let’s Talk form. “Community member contributions to the process will be invaluable,” said Superintendent Dr. Aaron Spence. “Participants’ time and willingness to help make the grading and assessment process better serve our learning community is greatly appreciated.”

Please review the policy and feedback analysis thus far, and then take the time to submit your feedback using the Let’s Talk Form. Feedback is accepted through Oct. 31, when the data will be compiled, analyzed, and used to make recommended revisions to the policy.

In the spring of 2024, LCPS began collecting feedback from educators, parents and students on the challenges and possible solutions, associated with implementing Policy 5030. A summary of the feedback and a timeline for policy review and potential revisions were presented to the Curriculum &
Instruction Committee in September 2024.
