Hamilton Rescue hosting drive-through open house May 22
In response to COVID concerns, the Hamilton Volunteer Rescue Squad is hosting its first-ever interactive “Drive Through Open House.” A simulated live-action experience, it brings you up close to a typical day with first responders.
Rain or shine, the event will take place on Saturday May 22, from 1 – 3 p.m.
Learn what goes into making an ambulance the most advanced care on wheels. Watch as patients are extracted from a car accident. See firefighters in action at a building fire. See a rural hillside rescue on 4-wheel, all-terrain vehicles. Watch lifesaving care on a sidewalk, and even see a medevac helicopter! (Scheduled to appear.)
Vehicles will stop at each location to hear sound and narration of the action. All of the simulated role play will be done by real fire-rescue members.
The station will also offer free ice cream and other goodies during the two-hour live event.
“We are enthusiastic and pleased to bring our community a glimpse of what we do,” said David Fawcett, an EMT with Hamilton Rescue. “Our hope is to give everyone something exciting to see and learn so that you, too, can join us and serve.”
The Hamilton Volunteer Rescue Squad is seeking a new generation of first responders. Their training and top-notch protective gear are provided free of charge.
