Purcellville Police Report, Dec. 10, 2021

12/03/21          1:58 a.m.         300 Block of Upper Brook Terrace   Domestic Dispute

Police responded for a verbal argument between a couple. One party had already left the scene but officers spoke with the subject by phone. As there was no physical assault, officers provided resource information, but no additional police intervention was required.

12/03/21          4:17 a.m.         Town of Purcellville                           Emotional Crisis

Officers received a call from a resident of a group home who was upset about his level of care. Officers spent time allowing the person to vent and were able to leave when the crisis had passed. 

12/4/21                        10:20 a.m.       105 Purcellville Gateway                   Assault

An employee, who is differently abled, was having an emotional crisis, and slapped a 6 year old, who was in the store with his father.  The employee immediately broke down into tears.  The brave young man, did not cry and was not injured.  Police responded and spoke separately to all involved parties, including the parents of the suspect.  After meeting with the parents of the involved parties, it was determined that there would be no additional involvement with the criminal justice process. 

12/4/21                        4:02 p.m.         200 Block of N. 23rd Street                 Lost Property

Police received a call from a subject who wished to report a lost wallet. He last saw the wallet when he paid for an order at Sweet Rose Bakery.  He walked across the street and sat at the pavilion to eat. Upon arrival at home, he realized that his wallet was missing.  He retraced his steps, but was unable to locate it.  The responding officer gave him information regarding how to contact his credit card companies and the credit bureau.

12/4/21            5:12 p.m.         100 Block of Willie Palmer Way                    Malicious Wounding

Two subjects were at a residence drinking when one became belligerent and physically assaulted the other in the form of punches and kicks, resulting in severe injuries to the victim, which required transport to the hospital. Officers located the intoxicated subject staggering on S. 20th Street.  The suspect had a laceration to his head after being struck with a bottle by the victim, in an effort to get away from the suspect. The belligerent suspect was transported to the hospital where he refused medical treatment.  He was transported to the Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with Malicious Wounding and Drunk in Public. He was held on no bond.  

12/05/21/21     12:27 a.m.       900 Block of W. Main Street              Domestic Dispute

Police were called to a residence in reference to a dispute between a man and his live in girlfriend.  Both had been out drinking, initially separately and then together, when the man abruptly left and went home. His girlfriend stayed a while longer, and when she arrived home, found the screen door was locked. She used a key to cut the screen and unlock the door.  She confronted her boyfriend, who told her he wanted her out of his house.  Police arrived and waited while she gathered some belongings.  Officers transported her to her mother’s home in Waterford.  She will call police when she returns to pick up the rest of her property. 

12/05/21          2:59 p.m.         200 Block of Orchard Drive              Solicitors

A resident called to report door to door solicitors, selling books for a scholarship program. The officer found two subjects, who were students at Hartland College, a school founded by the Seventh Day Adventists. He spoke to the leader of the group who explained that the students were spreading the word of their faith and giving out books, and asking for donations.  The people could keep their books even if they did not make a donation.  As this type of activity is protected free speech, no additional police action was necessary. 

12/5/21                        7:21 p.m.         100 Block of N. 16th Street                 Domestic Assault

A couple that had previously separated but was now back together, got into a dispute as the victim received a text, intercepted by her husband, from a man she had dated while separated. This made him angry and he kept the phone and texted the man back. This resulted in the suspect ordering the victim to pack her things and leave. She started to pack, but changed her mind, as she had nowhere else to go.  Enraged, the suspect allegedly grabbed a knife and held it to her throat. She was able to calm him down and when he walked out of the apartment, she contacted police.  At 12:23 a.m. the suspect called the investigating officer, who informed him that there were outstanding warrants for assault and abduction. The suspect agreed to return and turn himself in.  He had not done so by morning, but his attorney called at approximately 10:00 a.m. and said that his client would be turning himself in during the afternoon.  

12/06/21          2:59 p.m.         300 Block of Orchard Drive              Larceny

A resident called to report that a ceramic snowman was stolen from her porch sometime between 10:00 p.m. on Dec. 5 and 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 6.  Officers canvassed the area for cameras, but none captured the incident.  

While there is no lookout in this case, there have been prior reported thefts involving the suspect pictured below.

12/06/21          7:42 p.m.         500 Block of Country Club Drive      Welfare Check

An out of town family member called concerned about the well being of a resident. Officers responded and confirmed that all was well. No additional police intervention was required.

12/09/21         9:50 p.m.         100 Block of W. Main Street              Domestic/Drunk in Public

Officers on patrol observed two intoxicated women on Main Street.  They investigated that one of the women lives on Main Street and got into an argument with her boyfriend, who kicked her and her friend from the apartment.  Officers went to the apartment and negotiated the return of the two women to the apartment.

At 11:25 p.m., officers responded to a residence on E Street for a disorderly subject, who turned out to be one of the women in the previous domestic.  She left the Main Street apartment, and went to her boyfriend’s residence, where she became belligerent and was tearing the place apart. Her boyfriend and another resident, both who were sober, got her out of the house.   Police found her to be heavily intoxicated.  She was arrested and transported to the Adult Detention Center, where she will be held until sober.
