Civil War exhibit on display at Thomas Balch Library

A Civil War exhibit is on display at Thomas Balch Library and features more than 300 artifacts collected by local resident John Creamer.

Items include belt buckles, rifles, artillery, and currency, most of which have been found throughout Leesburg and Loudoun County. A number of the items are associated with the Battle of Ball’s Bluff.

“A lot of the items were found on constructions sites,” Creamer said, referencing Potomac Crossing and the property behind the old Walmart, located off Edwards Ferry Road. “I have enjoyed the fact that it was recovered and people can see it. Had it not been recovered, it would have been gone forever.”

This exhibit runs through August. It may be seen Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed for lunch between 12 and 1 p.m.), and Wednesday from 2 to 7:30 p.m.
