Leesburg Kiwanis Club to host Annual Halloween Parade
The Leesburg Kiwanis Club has announced that this year’s annual Halloween Parade will be held on Thursday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m.
Traditionally, the community parade has taken place on Halloween night prior to trick-or-treating. However, this year the event will be held the evening prior.
According to Kiwanis Club President Kim Thompson, the change is designed to give families and participants the opportunity to enjoy both traditions without overlap.
The parade, which has been a Leesburg tradition for decades, features floats, marching bands, community groups, and plenty of Halloween spirit. Registration is free for those who would like to participate in the parade and should be made online no later than Friday, Oct. 24.
Those participating are encouraged to bring food donations for Loudoun Hunger Relief, who will collect items when signing in to Ida Lee Park field. Please visit www.loudounhunger.org for a list of most needed items.
Please note, the parade schedule change does not affect trick-or-treating, which will still take place on
Oct. 31. Anyone with questions about the Parade is asked to contact Kim Thompson, Leesburg Kiwanis Club Parade Coordinator at kim@leesburgkiwanis.org.
Leesburg’s Halloween parade is one of the oldest in the eastern United States, first held in 1957. For more information about the event, including participation guidelines and registration forms, please visit https://k04757.site.kiwanis.org/.
