Loudoun Environmental Commission hosts Energy & Environment Forum
Members of the community are encouraged to learn and engage about environment and energy sustainability in Loudoun County by attending the third annual Energy and Environment Forum on Thursday, May 22, 2025, 5:30 – 8 p.m., at the Academies of Loudoun, 42075 Loudoun Academy Drive, Leesburg. The forum is hosted by the Loudoun County Environmental Commission, which advises the Board of Supervisors on policies and practices dealing with the environment, sustainability and the management of energy.
The forum will include an update on efforts the county has underway as well as booths from local nonprofits and businesses. It will feature breakout sessions with subject matter experts where members of the public may learn about energy and environmental issues in their day-to-day lives.
Topics include:
- Electric vehicle showcase: View EVs and ask questions of owners
- Making your home more energy efficient
- Managing invasive plants on your property
- Planting trees, protecting water
- Recycling and composting
- Repurposing waste heat from data centers for community benefit
- Solar energy on your home
In addition, the forum will feature a listening session to hear from the community about additional efforts that Loudoun could be addressing with respect to environmental and energy sustainability matters. Mike Rolband, the director of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, is scheduled to give a keynote address.
The annual forum provides members of the public an opportunity to learn more about energy and environmental topics and provide comments on the county’s efforts regarding environmental and energy sustainability. The public’s comments will be shared with the Board of Supervisors during the Environmental Commission’s annual update to the Board.
Anyone who requires a reasonable accommodation for any disability in order to participate, including language assistance, may call 571-258-3443. Three days’ notice is requested.
