Leesburg’s preservation team hosts Preservation Day
The Town of Leesburg’s Preservation Team will hold its first-ever Preservation Day, to be held on Thursday, May 8 at the Thomas Balch Library.
This special event will feature three informative sessions designed for anyone interested in learning more about Leesburg’s architectural history, the Certificate of Appropriateness process, and best practices for maintaining historic buildings.
Preservation Manager Lauren Murphy explained that the goal of Preservation Day is to educate and engage the public on the importance of protecting and celebrating the Town’s rich historical, architectural, and cultural heritage.
“May is national historic preservation month and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than by spending an afternoon at Thomas Balch Library, a beautiful historic structure, helping residents and business owners learn a little more about our Town,” Murphy said.
Sessions will begin at 1 p.m. Participants are welcome to attend all three presentations or select individual sessions that align with their interests. The event is free and open to the public, although early online registration is encouraged. Walk-ins will also be welcomed as space permits. An agenda for the program is available online at www.leesburgva.gov/preservationday.
