| The Leesburg Commission on Public Art and the Friends of Leesburg Public Arts are pleased to announce Alyssa Imes’ “Sun Flower” as the winner of the 2021 ArtsPARKs People’s Choice Award. Her work is one of five sculptures on display through June 2022 in the ArtsParks Sculpture Trail at Raflo Park. A sculptor from Emmitsburg, MD, Imes’ artistic portfolio began to take shape in 2016. In her work, Imes tries to convey the presence of positivity through bright colors and playful shapes. “Only with warmth and care can people truly blossom and bring joy to others with their beauty,” Imes said. The ArtsPARKs Sculpture Trail is a collaboration between COPA and the Friends of Leesburg Public Arts. The five sculptures currently installed in Raflo Park will remain on display until June 2022, at which time a new round of sculptures will be installed. All of the sculptures are available for purchase. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the sales will be invested in the ArtsPARKs program, paving the way for new artists to exhibit their work in subsequent years. The ArtsPARKs Sculpture Trail is part of the Loudoun County Artisan Trail network. |
