Animal Shelter temporary closures in April due to electrical work

The Loudoun County Animal Shelter, 42225 Adoption Drive, Leesburg, has scheduled temporary closures in April to accommodate needed electrical work. The work is weather-dependent; in the event of rain, it will be rescheduled. The temporary closures are scheduled for:

  • Tuesday, April 8, 2025: The Animal Shelter will be closed in the morning and will open to the public at 12 p.m. (The rain date is April 15.)
  • Monday, April 21, 2025: The Animal Shelter will be closed all day; reopening on Tuesday, April 22, at 8:30 a.m. (The rain date is April 28.)

Humane law enforcement services will not be affected by the closures.

Email messages to animals@loudoun.gov will be answered during the Animal Shelter closures. The Department of Animal Services’ main phone number, 703-777-0406, will be operational only for humane law enforcement services during the closure periods.

Loudoun County Animal Services provides animal welfare, sheltering and animal control services, and, as the only open-admission animal shelter in Loudoun County, receives approximately 2,500 lost, seized, abandoned or homeless pets each year.
