Loudoun County Government included in Forbes’ Best Large Employers list

For the first time, the Loudoun County government has been included in Forbes magazine’s prestigious ranking of America’s Best Large Employers. Loudoun is recognized for its outstanding commitment to fostering environments where employees can thrive based on various factors, which include atmosphere, salary, diversity, working conditions and workplace environment.

“I want to congratulate staff in all departments, particularly in the Department of Human Resources, who have worked tirelessly to make Loudoun an employer of choice,” said Loudoun County Administrator Tim Hemstreet.  “When asked, our employees consistently tell us that among the factors in selecting Loudoun as the place they want to work are the people they work with and the opportunity to do new and innovative things.”

Loudoun County has been committed to position the organization as an attractive workplace through the Department of Human Resources’ “Loudoun Difference” initiative that promotes an environment in which the county’s dedicated employees have the opportunity to serve the needs and shape the future of a unique and dynamic county through teamwork, community and innovation.

The employers on the list were selected through an independent survey from a sample of more than 217,000 employees working for companies employing at least 1,000 people within the United States. Over 6.5 million employer evaluations were considered. The final score is based on two types of evaluations: personal (those given by employees themselves) and public (those given by friends and family members of employees, or members of the public who work in the same industry), with a much higher weighting for personal evaluations.

The award is presented in collaboration with Statista, the statistics portal and industry ranking provider. Forbes reported, “employees have remained relatively steadfast when asked what they care about most in an employer: compensation, employee development and advancement opportunities, meaningful work, supportive colleagues, and workplace well-being and flexibility.”

The award list was announced on Feb. 12, and can be viewed on Forbes’ website.
