Nominations open for Leesburg’s 2024 Tolbert Environmental Achievement Award
The Leesburg Environmental Advisory Commission is seeking nominations for the 2024 Tolbert Environmental Achievement Award. This award program recognizes individuals, community groups, businesses, and students who benefit the Town’s environment by conducting or participating in activities throughout 2024 such as:
- Innovative use of recycled materials (including composting and collection programs for materials that are recyclable or reusable)
- Pollution prevention
- Waste reduction
- Protection of the natural environment
- Habitat improvement
- Beautification of the environment
- Environmental education
- Monitoring the condition of Leesburg’s environment (streams, habitat, etc.)
To make a nomination, visit www.leesburgva.gov/tolbertaward. Submissions are due on or before March 4 at 5 p.m. The form requests a brief narrative describing the person or group being nominated, why they deserve to be recognized, and how the actions lead to a more sustainable Leesburg.
Please be specific about their efforts and achievements and include quantifiable measures of success, if possible. Photos and other supplemental information may also be submitted. The 2024 Tolbert Environmental Achievement Award will be presented at a future Leesburg Town Council meeting.
