Annual dog park maintenance to begin Feb. 20
The park will be closed to allow replacement of wood chip mulch.
The Town of Leesburg Parks and Recreation Department, with support from the Department of Public Works, will be performing annual maintenance inside the Olde Izaak Walton Dog Park beginning Tuesday, Feb. 20. The dog park is scheduled to reopen on Friday, Feb. 23.

Maintenance will include the removal of the existing wood chip mulch, which will be replaced with a new layer. The decomposition of the existing mulch causes the surfacing to become saturated after a period of time and can often lead to drainage concerns. Applying new mulch will create a more stable, well drained surface throughout the season. In addition, the wood fencing and gates that border the front of the dog park will be replaced in early March.
Anyone with questions is asked to email Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation Jon Cleaves at jcleaves@leesburgva.gov.
