8th Annual We’re All Human 5K Color Run – Sept. 25
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and the Ryan Bartel Foundation, whose mission is to prevent youth suicide, is gearing up to spread awareness, support teens, and celebrate life. On Sept. 24, families will come together to run or walk the 5K, get showered with colors that symbolize sources of strengths they have in their lives, and fundraise for upstream youth suicide prevention programs provided by the Ryan Bartel Foundation. The event will take place on Sept. 25 at Woodgrove High School starting at 10 a.m.
Youth continue to struggle with their mental health. For two years in a row the US has declared a National State of Emergency for child and adolescent mental health by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Children’s Hospital Association.
“Loudoun and the Northern Virginia area are no different, so in response, we’re ramping up our efforts to reach more teens with our programs. The We’re All Human 5K Color Run will raise much-needed funds to support those efforts,” said Suzie Bartel, Founder of Ryan Bartel Foundation.
The Ryan Bartel Foundation is dedicated to building a foundation of resilience and life-long well-being in young people. Through in-person programs and activities grounded in mindfulness and positive psychology, teens connect with peers and learn new skills that enable them to cope better with the pressures of life.
Parental programs provide families with advice and resources so they can better help their teens. When registering, families are encouraged to join their school team who compete for the coveted Color Running Man trophy, delivered to the school with the most team participants. Reigning champions Willard MS in Aldie, VA will be defending their title after winning in 2022.
