Wheatland Concert Series finale on Dec. 7

The 2024 season finale of The Wheatland Concert Series takes place on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. Acclaimed soprano Ms. Kerry Holahan will be performing selections from Handel’s Messiah, as well as works by
Henry Purcell, Chiara Cozzolani, Philipp Fredrich Boddecker and Arcangelo Corelli.

Professor Mark Janello of the Johns Hopkins University Peabody Conservatory and Ms. Gracie Carney of McGill University, Montreal will return to Shiloh to provide harpsichord and Baroque violin accompaniment.

Chef Erik Nettnin Foxx is presenting a Tuscan wild game dinner, featuring Mezzaluna di Coniglio, ravioli filled with stewed rabbit, served with caramelized carrot purée and carrot butter, followed by Arrosto di Alce con salsa di mirtilli, tender roast Elk strip loin, with a blueberry sauce, served on a bed of creamy polenta with sweet and sour cipollini onions and roasted mushrooms.

For dessert we are serving a delectable Panna Cotta, the Italian cousin (or some say inspiration for?) Crème Brûlée. A vegetarian option is also available upon request. The meal is paired with a fine
Italian Chianti.

Soprano Kerry Holahan is renowned for her versatility and interpretation of Renaissance and Baroque
music. She has performed with both the American Bach Soloists in San Francisco and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and recently debuted with Grammy-winning vocal ensemble Seraphic Fire at the Aspen Music Festival, as well as the 21st Century Consort and the Folger Consort in Washington, D.C.

Holahan is a staff singer at St. John’s Church, Lafayette Square and regularly appears with the Washington National Cathedral Choir. She earned a Master of Music, Early Music Vocal Performance from the Peabody Conservatory; as well as a Vocal Performance Diploma, with Distinction, from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, UK.
