Town of Purcellville to hold May 26 Memorial Day ceremony
The Town of Purcellville encourages all citizens to come out to honor our Fallen Veterans on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2025. The ceremony will begin at 11:45 a.m. at the Purcellville Town Hall, 221 South Nursery Avenue.
The meeting will feature a welcome from Mayor Christopher Bertaut. The invocation will be led by Chaplain Larry Brooks and the Purcellville Police Department with remarks by Bradley Quin—a Gold Star family member, a past president of the Purcellville Volunteer Fire Company, and a current member of the Company’s Board of Directors.
Afterwards, there will be a procession to the Tear Drop, during which the American Legion will present military wreaths. Families of the Fallen will give out the local hero wreath donated by Designing Flowers.
Other features of the ceremony will include a performance of “Taps” by Rick Reaves, a PVFC Lifetime Member of more than 40 years. The American Legion will give a gun salute and raise the American flag. After a moment of silence, Bertaut is scheduled to deliver a proclamation, and Closing Prayers will be conducted by ADAMS Scouts/Interfaith Youth with remarks by Bertaut.
Traffic will be diverted in the area of the Tear Drop intersection from approximately 11:55 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to honor our Fallen. This will impact traffic on Main Street from Hatcher Avenue to 21st Street and from Nursery Avenue to 20th Street onto Main Street.
