Temporary closure of competition pool at Ashburn Recreation Center until Aug. 16

Due to the potential for glass in the competition pool at the Ashburn Recreation and Community Center, the competition pool is anticipated to reopen on Saturday, Aug. 16, at 8 a.m. This closure will allow our staff to safely drain, clean, and remove any potential glass or debris from the pool, ensuring the safety of our patrons.

The potential for glass in the pool is due to an unfortunate accident where a non-mercury glass thermometer, used during routine monitoring, was accidentally broken.

For future updates, please visit the Ashburn Recreation and Community Center Facebook page.

The closure will not impact the operations of the center’s leisure pool or the spa.

During the closure of the competition pool, patrons of the facility are encouraged to visit the Claude Moore Recreation and Community Center or the Dulles South Recreation and Community Center. The facilities feature recreational amenities, including competition and leisure pools, a hot tub, a lazy river, and an open swim and play area. Other indoor swimming opportunities for patrons include the Round Hill Indoor Aquatic Center located at 17010 Evening Star Drive, Round Hill.
