Sterling man faces charges in brandishing investigation

     Pursuant to an investigation, 60-year-old Esmaal Khalilpour of Sterling, was charged with abduction, displaying a firearm in the commission of a felony, assault, and brandishing.  Khalilpour remains held on no bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.

     The charges stem from an incident that occurred Feb. 5, in which Leesburg Police Department received reports of a male subject brandishing a firearm and chasing a female in the parking lot of the Shenandoah Square Shopping Center, located in the 900 block of Edwards Ferry Road NE.  

      Leesburg Police Officers responded and quickly took the adult male subject into custody without further incident.  It has been determined that the suspect and victim were known to each other.  Khalilpour was identified as the sole suspect and there is no further danger to the public.  The victim was treated on scene for apparent minor injuries by Loudoun County Fire Rescue.      The incident remains under investigation by the Leesburg Police Department Criminal Investigation Section.  Anyone who has not already spoken with law enforcement and has information about the incident is asked to contact Detective C.
