Shenandoah Potters Guild Sale at Garden Fair
The Shenandoah Potters Guild will present a pottery show and sale during the 36th Annual Garden Fair at State Arboretum at Blandy Experimental Farm on Mother’s Day weekend, May 9–10. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, rain or shine. A preview night for Blandy members and volunteers is scheduled for May 8 from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
The sale will feature a wide range of handcrafted pottery created by guild members, with many pieces designed for gardeners. Items will include flower pots, birdhouses, birdbaths, garden decorations, and other functional and decorative works. While each potter works with similar materials, the pieces reflect a broad range of individual styles, techniques, and artistic approaches.
The Garden Fair is the largest annual fundraiser for the Foundation of the State Arboretum, which supports the arboretum’s plant collections and public education programs. The event draws between 8,000 and 10,000 visitors each year from across the region and beyond.
More than 60 vendors from across Virginia are expected to participate, offering native plants, annuals, perennials, herbs, trees, shrubs, garden tools, crafts, pottery, and more. The fair will also include food, music, and activities for children.
The Shenandoah Potters Guild promotes the art of pottery in the Shenandoah Valley and supports the development of its members’ technical and professional skills.
