Purcellville police report Sept. 3

08/27/21          5:30 p.m.         745 E. Main Street                             Destruction of Property

The reporting party parked her vehicle in the parking lot and she and her passenger exited, but stopped near the rear of the car as another vehicle was pulling into the parking spot next to her car.

She watched as the man opened his door with such force, so that it struck her front passenger door, leaving a small scratch and dent. The subject walked into a restaurant and ate dinner.

The complainant waited until the subject left the restaurant and asked him for his insurance information. He replied, “Good luck with that” and drove away.

The responding officer, armed with license plate information and suspect description, responded to a residence in Loudoun County, in an effort to locate the perpetrator. The investigation is on-going.

08/29/21          10:37 a.m.       W&OD trail @ Hatcher Avenue       Suspicious Person

A couple walking on the bike trail reported that a man walking on the bike trail was acting oddly. He was engaging people in conversation, concerned with what he was reading on signs, and had some type of bandoleer over his shoulder and around his waist.

Officers checked the trail and did not find the man, but did locate him near the basketball court on N. 16th Street.

One of the officers engaged the man in conversation, who reported that he was practicing his Reiki Energy religion. He said that he prayed for the area, and was concerned about graffiti and vaping implements that he found.

The man told the officer that he lived in West Virginia, but he stays, from time to time with a friend in Purcellville. The two engaged in a pleasant conversation, and each went on their own way. The original complainants, upon hearing of the officer’s engagement with the man, sought him out and apologized for calling the police. 

09/02/21          8:36 a.m.         100 Block of N. 16th Street                 Destruction of Property

Two neighbors have been involved in a dispute over money owed by one to the other. One of the parties discovered that the tires on her vehicle had been slashed. No one witnessed the incident, but the complainant feels that the suspect is the other party in the dispute. The investigation is on-going

The complainant has a protective order against a subject and believed that the suspect may have been in a vehicle parked nearby, in violation of the order.

The complainant watched the vehicle for a period of time, before calling the police. The vehicle was gone from the scene when police were summoned. The investigation is on-going.

No one witnessed the incident, but the complainant feels that the suspect is the other party in the dispute. The investigation is on-going
