Purcellville Police offer Cram the Cruiser
On Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the Purcellville Police Department will once again partner with Giant Food, located at 1000 East Main Street, Purcellville, to Cram the Cruiser with non-perishable food and hygiene items. All donations will be distributed to local food pantries/community organizations to support our neighbors in need.
Items requested include:
- hygiene products: toothbrushes, toothpaste, body soap, shampoo, conditioner, sanitary napkins, and hairbrushes
- infant supplies: baby formula, baby rice cereal, diapers, and baby wipes
- non-perishable food: cold & hot cereal, canned soup (NO chicken noodle), canned meats (chicken, tuna, spam, salmon), canned fruits & vegetables, canned tomatoes, pasta, pasta sauce, Chef boy-ardee, boxed or bags mashed potatoes, rice, bagged dry black beans, taco kits, salsa, peanut butter/jelly, tea/coffee, snacks for kids (juice boxes, applesauce, granola bars), condiments (mayo, ketchup, mustard, pickles), pancake mix, syrup, corn flour, oil, gravy mix, and spices.
Please check all expiration dates before donating new, unopened items to ensure all food provided is safe to share with the community.
Many people readily donate food during the holidays; however, summer is often a forgotten time of year when supplies run low at local food pantries while many families are struggling. In addition, when school is not in session, many children are unable to receive the free meals they usually are provided during the school day. Therefore, the success of these types of collection events is essential to help our underserved community members. Please consider stopping by to drop off whatever you are able or pick up a few extra items to donate while you complete your regular grocery shopping trip.
