Purcellville PD offering car seat safety checks

The Purcellville Police Department is an official Virginia Department of Health Safety Seat Check Station. The Purcellville Police Department has certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians who offer free car seat safety checks to ensure your child’s car seat is installed correctly.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, vehicular crashes, and the injuries caused by such, are a leading cause of death among children. Proper child safety seats have been proven to reduce fatal injuries by 71 percent in infants under one and by 54 percent for toddlers ages one to four years of age, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Children require specialized protection in vehicles to keep them safe in the event of a collision. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to take the time to learn how to properly use car seats, booster seats, and seat belts, that meet the standards adopted by the United States Department of Transportation and per vehicle/car seat manufacturer guidelines.

The Purcellville Police Department is offering free car seat safety checks by a CPST once a month, on a Friday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Reservations are recommended, but walk-ins are accepted depending on CPST availability. Participants can click on the links below or scan the QR code in the event graphic to reserve their spot at one of the upcoming events. Please include the make and model of the car seat to be checked when registering.

The first monthly car seat safety check will take place on Friday, June 6, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Purcellville Police Department, located at 125 Hirst Road, Suite 7A, Purcellville, Virginia. Below is the current schedule for upcoming car seat safety check events:
