PRCS to unveil new brand identity and logo

The Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services is excited to unveil an updated logo that reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to serving the community. This redesign symbolizes PRCS’ evolution as it has expanded its services, built new parks and facilities, and provided programs and events that bring residents and visitors together.

Since the development of the current logo over 25 years ago, PRCS has diversified the services provided and built state-of-the-art facilities to meet the growing needs of the community. Today, PRCS operates three recreation centers and seven community centers and manages more than 4,037 acres of parkland. In addition, the department has expanded its childcare and senior services.

“The new logo is a symbol of the trusted service that residents have come to expect for 60 years, and a connection to the county’s quality parks, programs, and facilities,” said Director of Loudoun County PRCS Steve Torpy. “This logo represents growth, inclusion, and innovation, which embody our work today and for the future,” he added.

The new logo features a distinctive flourishing leaf, reflecting the department’s dedication to creating interconnected spaces and experiences for individuals and communities to thrive and grow.

The five interconnected shapes in the logo align with PRCS’s core values of excellence, collaboration, innovation, integrity and resilience. Loudoun County appears in the logo to reflect the community we serve and the connection to the services we provide.  Additionally, the intentionally designed open circle illustrates the department’s ongoing mission to connect all communities through exceptional people, parks and programs.

In 2025, PRCS began collaborating with a professional branding agency to create a new logo and brand identity for the department. As part of this effort, PRCS launched an internal rebranding initiative that included staff surveys, workshops and the formation of an internal rebranding team.

This modernized PRCS logo will strengthen the department’s brand in digital formats and enhance its appearance on apparel and other branded materials, which are essential for the department’s extensive marketing efforts that promote the hundreds of programs and services that are available to the community throughout each year.

The clean, accessible elements and vibrant brand colors align with PRCS’s modern identity of providing public parks, trails, and recreation centers while offering diverse programs: youth sports, adaptive recreation, senior services, childcare, arts and community events.

The new brand identity will begin rolling out across PRCS digital platforms (department social media pages and loudoun.gov/PRCS) over the next few weeks. In addition, community members will start seeing the logo in the coming months. Signage and other PRCS materials will be updated over time through a multi-year rollout tied to ongoing replacement and renovation projects.
