Pop-up Exhibit to highlight 100 years of Collections

The public is invited to a pop-up exhibit on Friday, May 5, which will feature highlights from Thomas Balch Library’s archival collections and the exhibit: Highlights of 100 Years of Collecting at Thomas Balch Library.

The event will be held at the Donaldson Log Cabin, 14 Loudoun St. SW, in conjunction with First Friday, from 5 to 7 p.m.

In addition to the pop-up exhibit, the public will also learn more about the Donaldson Log Cabin’s history as well as the Thomas Balch Library’s use of the space. Since spring 2023, the cabin has been used by library staff and volunteers for processing archival collections.

This involves sorting, organizing, and relocating papers into acid-free folders and boxes for long-term preservation. Staff has also spent time creating written guides to help enable researchers to locate and understand the materials. For more information, call 703-737-7195 or email balchlib@leesburgva.gov.
