Philomont holds new car show event
It has been over four years since Philomont gathered participants, residents and visitors at an outdoor fundraising event. On Aug. 27, the Philomont Village Foundation held its Inaugural Car Show which was well attended by over 100 spectators who enjoyed 50 vehicles that represented almost 100 years of the automobile industry. Antique cars, trucks, and a WWII Jeep along with some 21st century entries were on display for all to enjoy, even by those just driving by on Philomont Road. It was a great turnout for their first event.
Many Philomont residents came to this event, some entered their own cars. PVF board members worked the registration tent while making sure attendees stayed hydrated and had snacks available. Many neighbors come by to enjoy the new event and vote for their favorite vehicle.
The event will be expanding next year to include food, music and many more participants and attendees. Thank you to the Philomont VFD for watering down the dry grass and staying on site with the brush truck, and many thanks to neighbors who let their property be used for the event.
“Philomont has always been a strong community with a welcoming heart. Even though we have not recently had the type of fundraising events that people came from far and wide in support of our volunteer firemen for 60 years, we look forward to creating new community supported events and many new memories with the Philomont Village Foundation,” said Madeline Skinner, President of the Philomont Village Foundation.
