McAlister and Wagner honored by SAR and VFW

At the April 23 Purcellville Town Council Meeting, the Sons of the American Revolution, Virginia Society, Sergeant Major John Champe Chapter, and the Loudoun County Veterans of Foreign Wars, VFW Post 1177, presented awards to Purcellville Police Chief Cynthia McAlister and recently retired Sergeant Robert Wagner.

Chief Cynthia McAlister was honored with the Law Enforcement Commendation and Medal from the SAR, Sergeant Major John Champe Chapter for being an “exemplary employee, role model, mentor, and a law enforcement asset dedicated to the safety and wellbeing of the citizens of the Town of Purcellville, the County of Fairfax, the County of Loudoun, the Commonwealth of Virginia and this Nation.”
 
Retired Sergeant Robert Wagner was presented with the Veterans of Foreign Awards National Law Enforcement Award. He was recently awarded the Loudoun County Veterans of Foreign Wars, VFW Post 1177 First Responder of the Year and the Virginia State VFW District 10 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.

Since retired Sergeant Wagner won at the state level, his nomination was submitted for the VFW National Award, which he was selected among hundreds of other nominees across the country. Retired Sergeant Wagner was awarded for his outstanding career of maintaining a “record of highly professional and exemplary service to the community and the nation. His extraordinary commitment clearly illustrates the proud core values and tradition of the law enforcement profession further highlighted by the degree of admiration and respect of both his peers and the local public he serves.”
