The Loudoun County Republican Committee has announced an ambitious $1 million fundraising campaign as it works to defeat Virginia Senator Tim Kaine from being elected a third time to the U.S. Senate, and filling the vacancy of Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-Dist. 10) who will resign when her term ends this year due to health issues.

“The Trumpeting Change campaign allows the Loudoun County GOP to look beyond a single year to secure a future for conservative values,” said Chairman Scott Pio. “LCRC is going to raise $1 million in 2024 to take back Loudoun County by making long-term investments in our party and candidates.”

The fundraising initiative was talked about at the LCRC Annual Meeting held Jan. 22 in Sterling. Pio said the LCRC is formulating a two-to-five-year plan in dealing with future campaigns, a new strategy it thinks will help it achieve its long-term goals.

The money raised will allow the committee to:

  • plan and operate beyond a single fiscal year.
  • elect three new conservatives to the Virginia House of Delegates in 2025.
  • elect three more members to Loudoun School Board.
  • attract the next-generation of members for our future.
  • blanket the county in conservative messaging.

LCRC continues to increase its year-over-year fundraising numbers: $30,001 in 2021, $84,400 in 2022, and $330,744 in 2023. The increasing budget allowed LCRC to invest in new digital tools and establish relationships with top-tier political vendors.

Pio said LCRC has spent significant time through the holiday season understanding voting demographics so it can better form relationships with different constituent bases. Pio has been attending church services with various religious groups and recruited others to go with him during the Jan. 22 meeting.

He said it’s crucial to start building strong relationships with minority and different cultural groups to be able to represent their interests and earn their votes.

The Get Out the Vote subcommittee is working to identify strong Republicans who have not voted in the last two elections in precincts with competitive 2023 election results and urge them to complete an absentee ballot application.

The next business meeting will be held Monday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Cascades Overlook Event Center (2nd floor, Suite 200), 21453 Epicerie Plaza in Sterling. The meeting will start promptly at 7 p.m. and the public is encouraged to come 15 minutes early.
