Local man charged with multiple counts of shoplifting
The Leesburg Police Department has charged a local man with multiple counts of shoplifting stemming from incidents over the past two weeks.

On March 15, at approximately 2:15 p.m., officers responded to the New Balance store located at The Leesburg Premium Outlets (241 Fort Evans Road, NE), for a report of a male who had taken a pair of shoes without paying for them. Officers located the male, later identified as Clarence Wiggins, 34, of no fixed address, nearby. Wiggins fled on foot, however, he was apprehended and taken into custody by officers.
Clarence Wiggins was charged with Larceny and Preventing Law Enforcement from Making an Arrest relating to the New Balance incident. He was also served warrants on an additional nine charges of Larceny stemming from other recent Leesburg shoplifting incidents at local Virginia ABC stores, 7-11, New Balance, and Nike. Wiggins was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where he is being held without bond.
