Leesburg woman charged in serious crash

Pursuant to an investigation and in consultation with the Office of the Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney, 66-year-old Mary Murray of Leesburg has been charged with reckless driving.

The charges stem from an incident which occurred on Dec. 16, shortly after 9 a.m., in which a Leesburg Police TMU Officer observed an adult male lying in the roadway near the intersection of East Market Street (Rt. 7 business) and Fort Evans Road.

Officers determined that the adult male had been on foot in the crosswalk across East Market Street when he was struck by a vehicle turning left from northbound Fort Evans Road SE onto westbound East Market Street. The driver, Mary Murray, remained on scene and cooperated with police. The adult male was transported by ambulance to Inova Loudoun Hospital where he continues to be treated for apparent life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Leesburg Police Department TMU. Anyone who witnessed the crash and who has not already spoken to law enforcement is asked to contact Officer S.
